news
As our business continues to grow and develop we are very aware that this couldn’t be achieved without our two most valuable assets, you our customer and the Abbey team that look after you. With this news page I will keep you updated on activities at the Abbey, new members joining the team, our programme of continuous improvement and plans for the future.
Your feedback really is important to us as they help us to keep improving our business to ensure we are helping your business.

The Abbey team
Over the last few months we have said farewell to Yvonne in the Restaurant and Ian in the kitchen who have both retired after collectively 45 years service at the Abbey.
Welcome additions to the team include Louby (Reception), Joanna (Restaurant), Ella and Matthew in the kitchen and Anna Miskelly ( Business Development Manager)
Thankfully there are still many familiar faces to greet our customers to the Abbey and I’m sure the new members of the team will quickly become known to all our guests.
Continuous improvements
As part of our ongoing programme recent improvements include:
- New car park barriers
- New carvery has been successfully installed
- We have installed new carpet in the Restaurant, Bar and Library to compliment the new leather furniture recently purchased
- All of the public areas on the ground floor of the abbey have been re-decorated with some feature colours to add further interest
- We have created 5 new outdoor team building activities. Great for problem solving and working together as a team and to boost flagging energy levels
- Listening to our customers an additional guest computer has been installed in the Reception area
- We are nearly at the end of a refurbishment of our bedrooms and are already planning new additions to further enhance your stay
We take our commitment to the environment very seriously. In 2006 we formed an Energy Environmental Group (EGG) to ensure we were doing every thing possible to reduce our “Carbon Foot Print”.
The environment
Measures implemented include:
- Our electricity now comes from 100% renewable resources
- Boxes for the collection of waste paper are in all the main meeting rooms and office areas
- A rolling programme of replacing with energy efficient light bulbs
- Kathy (Restaurant) and David (Support Services) have attended a training course on energy and environmental issues and how we may improve
This is of course in addition to the many areas of good practice we already had in place. We will continue to be creative and search best practice to address an issue that will impact on all of us.
