Terms and Conditions of Hire for Missenden Abbey Conference Centre.
We take our codes of practice extremely seriously. They’re how we maintain the extremely high standards we’ve set ourselves and give you real confidence in what we do.
1. In these Terms and Conditions “the Client” means the person(s) or organisation named overleaf or with whom the hiring contract is concluded.
2. The client will be fully responsible for all persons and property brought onto the premises during the period of hire and will indemnify Missenden Abbey against any claims in respect of loss, injury or damage sustained by or to such persons or property other than claims in respect of death or personal injury arising solely from the negligence of Missenden Abbey, its servants or agents.
3. The Client will further be responsible
(i) for any damage caused to the premises or its contents by the Client, its visitors, servants or agents.
(ii) for ensuring that all persons brought to any part of the premises comply with licensing and other statutory requirements to which Missenden Abbey is subject in respect of the premises.
4. Missenden Abbey shall in no circumstances be responsible for temporary closure of all or part of the premises or interruption or cancellation of the Client’s booking caused by circumstances beyond its control, including (without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing) any breakdown of machinery, failure of supply of electricity or gas, leakage of water, act of God, Strike or industrial action. In these circumstances Missenden Abbey will use its best endeavours to assist the Client.
5. The price of the facilities and service will be stated to the customer at time of booking. The price will either be a fixed charge or a charge subject to increase to take account of any increase in the costs of providing facilities and services.
6. An invoice will be prepared and forwarded for both the total price of the meeting and any extras required and ordered by the client. All payments shall be discharged within 30 days of delivery of an invoice. Failure to do so without justifiable reason will incur a surcharge of 5%. This will then increase 5% by each month until the invoice is paid in full.
7. Missenden Abbey reserves the right in the event of cancellation to charge
100% of the contract price.
Final numbers for confirmation and billing purposes are the numbers stated on our Booking Contract.
Cancellation is levied as follows:
(i) No charge if cancelled 12 weeks prior to commencement of booking
(ii) 25% charge if cancelled 12-8 weeks prior to commencement of booking
(iii) 50% charge if cancelled 8-6 weeks prior to commencement of booking
(iv) 80% charge if cancelled 6-2 weeks prior to commencement of booking
(v) 100% charge if cancelled 2 weeks prior to commencement of booking or no shows on the day of course. All cancellation charges are at the discretion of Missenden Abbey Conference Centre
8. At the end of the conference the Client will ensure that the premises are vacated at the agreed time stipulated on the contract.
9. The Client will observe all reasonable requests and instructions issued by Missenden Abbey.
10. If any part or parts of this agreement are held by any court or tribunal to be illegal or unenforceable for any reason whatsoever such ruling shall not affect the remainder of this agreement which shall continue to have effect and be enforceable.
11. This agreement shall be construed in accordance with English law and in the event of any dispute the English courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
